	Tropical Weather Update - Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Good morning folks! I'm still flying and training in Little Rock, AR for another couple of weeks but thought I'd take a moment to talk about Ida this morning!

As of 7am EST this morning, Ida was a category 1 hurricane just east of Cozumel, MX moving north at 12 mph. The current forecast has Ida moving north into the cool waters of the Gulf and under some fairly strong shear. While some slow strengthening may occur today, rapid weakening should begin tomorrow.

So the next question is what will happen then? NHC is currently forecasting Ida to steer north and then north-northeast into the northeast Gulf by the 5 day point under the influence of a trough of low pressure that is expected to track across the US. The forecast calls for Ida to become a cat 2 storm in the short term and then weaken to a TS and depression upon reaching the northern Gulf. At the moment they aren't forecasting an actual landfall for Ida but it looks like it'll be a rain maker more than anything else if she does make landfall somewhere in the northern Gulf.

So we'll have to see how the scenario plays out over the next couple of days.

I think us Alabama Folks really need to keep a eye on this one. It looks like it's gonna be really close. and also Pensacola. They said Mobile and Pensacola has had plenty of rain. There above the range of what they need. sheri
