Cloudy and warm greets this day—mid fifties. High summer has come and will last, hopefully, until sometime in August. Highs in the 80’s with lows above 45 constitute high summer in Drydaho. A bit of rain the last couple of days with some fine lightening on Thursday evening. Monsoonal moisture has pushed in which is commonly an August feature.
As usual when the moisture comes directly from the south, as on Thursday, some storms actually get here and precipitation occurs. But if, as yesterday, the stuff pushes north and then is pushed east we get little.
After looking at the weather predictions out there it appears high summer may have a hard time this year. The cool, sometimes wet, weather will be around for a while.
The Bitterroots are blossoming in ways I have never seen before in my 20 years in Drydaho. Usually they send up flowers that seldom open and only occasional glimpses of the flowers beauty occur. Yarrow is flowering and Sego Lilies are making an appearance. The hills are still green—a strange thing for July 4.
